Well, at it's most basic level, Restorative Exercise is exercise - in particular, it's an alignment-based exercise program created by biomechanist and Nutritious Movement™ founder Katy Bowman.

The exercises and movements are designed to help you become more aware of how you move your body. You'll discover areas of tension, overuse, and, underuse, and learn how to bring balance back to these areas.

Noticing these movement - and lack of movement! - patterns allows you to begin moving in new and healthier ways. This will not only reduce the amount of wear and tear on your tissues, but will actually nourish, heal, & restore each and every cell in your body.

This sounds pretty good already, but Restorative Exercise is also a whole-life movement program! As you start to feel better in your body, movement becomes a joy rather than a chore.

You will no longer need to carve out time to exercise...instead, you will be inspired to move throughout your daily life. This might mean that you choose to park farther from the office and walk the rest of the way, sit on the floor instead of the couch, stretch your hips while you unload the dishwasher, hang from (or even climb!) a tree, or whatever other movement strikes your fancy...the possibilities are endless!
